About
I began my art career at the ripe old age of three when I picked up my first pencil. I’ve been drawing ever since. I started illustrating professionally at fifteen. Since then I’ve illustrated, art-directed, designed t-shirts, painted murals as well as painting and designing sets for the Theatre. Through the years, I’ve found that my skills and speed have increased considerably, a result of constant tight deadlines.
In 1993, I began seriously painting from my imagination and here I am. What you see here are the results of years of practice, a host of influences and, possibly, a need for therapy. My artwork expresses my longings, my fears, my emotions and my sense of wonder. For you the viewer, I simply wish to share the wonder. The rest just comes with the package. These images serve to evoke some mystery and spark within your own imagination. Feel free to pull out your own story or meaning from their midst and travel down your own road of fantasy.
Most of these pieces are painted with acrylic paint on whatever happens to be available at the time. Occasionally, I will try different mediums and stretch my skills a bit. My favorite tends to be papers, probably because of the sheer joy I find in the drawing. As I stated, these images mainly come from memory and imagination rather than photos or models, although I do use them from time to time. I find that creating a reality of my own is more fun and photos can kill the spontaneity of the image in my mind.
Creating imaginary images and worlds is highly personal for me. When people are moved by my paintings, well… no experience matches that. That feeling is why I continue to paint and draw. Please feel free to browse around and enjoy.
